With her background in TV, Denise offers a fresh, fun approach to work
If there’s one thing Denise likes, it’s creating a structure. Starting her career in television production gave her an inside view of the importance of being organized, even on a tight deadline. Now she brings those key skills to her work at Lai and Associates as an administrative coordinator out of Trinidad and Tobago.
“What excites me about what I do is bring[ing] order. That’s one of my strong suits,” Denise says, “I like looking at a task, seeing and understanding what’s needed, and coming up with a solution. [It’s] a way to bring it in order.
“We have a really good team”
While organization is important for every company, Denise adds an extra layer of professionalism to Lai and Associates with her meticulous approach while ensuring that her systems are part of the company’s agile approach. She also loves that everything fits into the outfit’s culture of respect and teamwork.
“We have a really good team. Everybody that I’ve interacted with is willing to assist and is open to sharing their knowledge,” Denise says, “I feel very comfortable knowing that I can rely on my fellow coworkers.
So, What convinced Denise to stray from a glamorous career in television?
When starting her role at Lai and Associates, Denise realized that this would be a change from the culture of working in TV. It’s a great lesson for career changers and people entering the workforce for the first time.
“You have to take your time and truly understand what’s needed because different organizations have their own culture and their own way of doing things,” she adds.
So, what convinced Denise to stray from a glamorous career in television? A company with a vision.
“We’re always looking for an opportunity to satisfy our customers’ needs,” She says, “We adjust to understand the customer’s business, what their needs are, and how we can find solutions to meet and even exceed those needs and expectations.”
